NEW BALANCE was founded in Boston in 1906 by an English immigrant named William J. Riley, later joined by Arthur Hall as sales director and future associate. Originally, it manufactured arch supports, and its owner and president since 1972 is James (Jim) S. Davis. Today, NB is the world's fourth-largest athletic shoe brand and the only one to manufacture shoes in the West (70% of running shoes sold in Europe are made in England). As a renowned sports equipment manufacturer, it has been working for over 100 years to keep the world moving, serving multiple sports teams and international players, as well as the fashion industry with its more urban lines.
