Officially founded in 2001, Obey existed long before the brand's creation. In the beginning, Obey was an extension of artist Shepard Fairey's work, who became known for plastering the walls of major East Coast cities with his "Andre The Giant Has A Posse" stickers and his activist work. Indeed, the brand is renowned for incorporating politically and socially provocative propaganda into its clothing designs.
